Wind Power
In regards to wind power, not only has Elecnor completed turnkey projects for a number of wind farms across Spain for several different developers, it also acts as a developer and operator through its subsidiary Enerfín.
Enerfín has proven experience in developing all the stages of a wind farm project, from development and construction to operations. At present, it is one of the industry’s benchmark companies, both in Spain and on the American continent, with a power capacity of over 1,000 MW.
In the international arena, special mention goes to its involvement in the Latin American market, particularly Brazil, where it constructed the Osorio Wind Farm, the southern hemisphere’s largest with 150 MW and enough power to supply the annual residential consumption of 650,000 people. Elecnor's total power in Brazil now totals 328 MW, thus staking its place among the country's industry leaders.
Elsewhere abroad, the 100 MW L’Erable Wind Farm is currently under construction in Quebec (Canada), while the company’s first projects in the US, in Montana, Washington and Oregon, are in the development phase.
Elecnor has also left the imprint of its pioneering and innovative spirit on the domestic market. It is involved in the Hydro-Wind Turbine Power Plant promoted by Gorona del Viento
El Hierro S.A., on the Canary Island of El Hierro, the first of its kind in the world to combine wind and hydraulic power. Other eminent actions include those undertaken as part of the Community of Valencia Wind Plan, which anticipates the development of 365 MW in the region. Within this plan, Elecnor acts as developer for the Villanueva I and II Wind Farms (Jarafuel, Valencia), which, altogether, represent 66.7 MW of power and were inaugurated in 2009.
The Group’s philosophy is guided by technological independence and development excellence, placing particular emphasis on environmental respect and integration.
