Elecnor's CEO attends launch of Focus Africa 2023 action programme at La Moncloa

Elecnor was the company chosen to talk about its experience in Africa and to provide a Spanish business's view on the opportunities that will be unlocked through this programme

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez unveiled the "Focus Africa 2023" action programme during an event that was unquestionably of great interest to the Elecnor Group. Its CEO, Rafael Martín de Bustamante gave an address.

The event was also attended by the President of Ghana; the President of the African Development Bank; the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Government of Spain; and the Foreign Affairs Minister of Senegal.

The Focus Africa 2023 action programme is closely linked to the Third Africa Plan approved by the Government in 2019, and is further endorsed in the 2021-2024 Foreign Action Strategy, which is expected to be adopted in the near future by the Council of Ministers.<231/>The objective of this programme is to convey to Spanish society and African institutions and businesses that Africa is a major priority for Spain, with which it is intended to build a strategic partnership, stressing the need to collaborate on the many common challenges we face.

Elecnor in Africa

Elecnor has been involved with the development of the African continent for four decades. It took its first steps in Africa in 1981 by signing a contract for the construction of transmission lines and substations in Côte d'Ivoire. Today, forty years later, we have a workforce of more than 1,600 people in 15 countries across the continent.
