Elecnor and compliance, a successful partnership

We are living at a time when corporate purpose and companies’ commitment to society have become phenomenally important for a society that is increasingly demanding. For years, good practice in ethical matters has been essential for the survival of any company. In the case of the Elecnor Group, it has long been a self-imposed requirement, as it has governed all of the Group’s actions since it was founded.

Since 1958, it has shown firm commitment to good practice. Elecnor’s dedication tofighting corruption has turned the group into a major opinion leader regarding compliance, through its well-known Compliance System against bribery and corruption, and due to its active participation in diffusing the culture of compliance by creating the IE - Elecnor Observatory on Sustainable Compliance Cultures.

The IE - Elecnor Observatory on Sustainable Compliance Cultures was born at the end of 2019, as a joint project with the IE Foundation, in order to create an open platform designed as a space for study and the promotion of a sustainable culture of compliance among small and medium-sized companies. Through this project, Elecnor seeks to become an international leader in the field of compliance, by sharing all the experience gained during years of dedication to the development and implementation of good practices.

Compliance holds strategic importance for all companies, regardless of their size, and gives them a competitive advantage over other companies. By choosing the highest standards, Elecnor has become the first Spanish company in its sector to receive the UNE-ISO 37001 standard certification for “Antibribery Management Systems”. This is the most demanding and significant international certifiable standard when it comes to creating compliance management systems.

Just a year later, this award was joined by the certification of Elecnor’s Compliance System under the UNE 19601 standard “Management System for Criminal Compliance”, the benchmark certification in Spain for the design and creation of systems to prevent criminal offences and risks.

Nevertheless, Elecnor continuously strives to improve its Compliance System. Recently, AENOR has renewed its certifications for the benchmark standards UNE 19601 and ISO 37001. This only goes to accredit Elecnor’s strength and its effort to stay at the cutting edge in terms of compliance, in a lasting, stable partnership.
