Elecnor develops 5 wind farms in La Coruña and Lugo that will provide electricity to power 45,000 households

In 2020 Elecnor was awarded the construction, maintenance, operation and control of these farms for 64.3 million euros

The Spanish group for infrastructures, energy, services and telecommunications Elecnor is building 5 wind farms in Galicia for 64.3 million euros. Elecnor will also be in charge of maintaining, operating and controlling the wind farms for the first 24 months. The contract was awarded to Elecnor by Greenalia, a company active in the generation and sale of electricity from wind, photovoltaic solar and biomass energy.

The Miñón, Ourol, Croa I, Croa II and Monte Tourado wind farms are located in the provinces of La Coruña and Lugo. This project entails the installation of 19 turbines, 14 of which will be installed in the province of La Coruña and the rest in Lugo. On the basis of the contracts with Enercon and Gamesa, Elecnor is responsible for the supply and installation of the wind turbines. These five wind farms will provide a total power of 74.22 MW to the grid and electricity to power 45,000 households in this region. The Miñón farm is already in the operation and maintenance stage, the construction of the Ourol farm was recently finished and the remaining three farms are in the initial execution stage.

Apart from the installation of wind turbines, the contract includes the construction of two substations of 132 and 66 kV and the installation of an 8 km high voltage overhead line. Elecnor will also carry out the installation of all the medium voltage grids and fibre-optic networks and the design and construction of the farms’ civil infrastructures.
