Elecnor secures the contract to build a 66-MW wind farm in Panama

A project developed by Parque Eólico Toabré, S.A. entailing a total investment of USD 150 million. It is the first wind farm built by Elecnor in Panama

Elecnor has won the EPC (turnkey) contract to build the Toabré wind farm. This facility has a nameplate capacity of 66 MW and an estimated annual output of 240 GWh. This project, which will entail investment of USD 150 million, is located in the municipalities of Penonomé and Antón. It is the first wind farm built by Elecnor in Panama.

The Toabré wind farm, which will take 22 months to build, will be equipped with 20 Vestas V117 turbines. Elecnor will be responsible for the engineering, supply, construction and start-up of the wind farm. The contract also includes 2 substations, for evacuation and interconnection with the national grid, and a 27-km, 230 kV transmission line.

Parque Eólico Toabré, S.A. is a company held 70% by the Panamanian company Recursos Eólicos, S.A. and 30% by the Spanish company Audax Renovables, S.A.

Elecnor in Panama

This latest project strengthens Elecnor's presence in Panama, where the company has had a stable presence since 2010. It has carried out several major projects including construction of the Hospital Rafael Hernández (USD 115 million) and of the Chepo and Chitré polyclinics (USD 20 million) for the Panama Social Security Fund and the expansion of the transmission capacity of the Mata de Nance-Veladero and Guasquitas-Veladero line (USD 24 million) for the Transmisión Eléctrica de Panamá (ETESA) company.
