Elecnor wins a EUR 15.7 million electrification contract for the high-speed rail line to France

The contract includes the installation of 62km of overhead line and the related systems for the high-speed rail line linking the Mediterranean Corridor with the Madrid-Barcelona-French border high-speed line

4 November 2014.- Railway infrastructure manager Adif Alta Velocidad has awarded Elecnor the contract to built the overhead line and related systems of the section of the high-speed rail (HSR) line that will link the Mediterranean Corridor with the Madrid-Barcelona-French border HSR line worth EUR 15.7 million.

The contract entails the installation of the overhead lines in several sections on the route, as well as heating elements at switch points, tunnel lighting, power connections from the overhead lines to buildings and the power remote control.

In all, the project, expected to take 12 months and co-financed with support by the European TEN-T Programme, covers 62 kilometres (45.6 kilometres of double track rail and the remainder branch connection) and includes the Rojales tunnel, the Francolí viaduct, the L'Hospitalet de l'Infant station and the Mont-roig del Camp and Cambrils siding and passing posts.

The latest contract win adds to Elecnor's vast experience in the infrastructure and railways sectors. Elecnor is one of the largest contributors to the development of Spain's HSR network, laying around 2,250 kilometres of the country's approximately 2,700 kilometres of total HSR lines.

It also reinforces the Group's positioning in railway infrastructure, where it has over 20 years' experience in turnkey projects involving electrification, signalling, interlocking, communications and control systems. One major project is the construction of a 12.6 kilometre tram in Algeria, awarded by the country's Ministry of Transport in June last year.
