Elecnor wins USD 139 million contract to build another wind farm in Jordan

It is an 86 megawatt project that will be built in partnership with Gamesa

Madrid, 16 December 2016.- Elecnor, in a consortium with Gamesa, has won the USD 139 million contract, equivalent to EUR 131.27 million at the current exchange rate, to build an 86-MW wind farm in Jordan.

Elecnor will be responsible for the engineering of the project, construction of the wind farm, the medium-voltage power and communications network and the complete substation, including its start-up. Gamesa will be responsible for the supply, assembly and start-up of 41 turbines and for the supply of a 60 MVAr statcom (static synchronous compensator).

Located in the region of Maan in southern Jordan, the wind farm is a turnkey project for Green Watts Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of Alcazar Energy, which develops renewable energy generation projects across the Middle East.

The execution term of the project is 23 months and it is slated for completion in November 2018. The project will then continue with a 20-year operation and maintenance contract.

The Al Rajef facility is Elecnor's third wind farm project in Jordan and its fourth in the Middle East. All are turnkey projects carried out in partnership with local companies.
