Elecnor, in a consortium with General Electric, has won turnkey contract to build the Tafilah wind farm in Jordan. The facility will have installed capacity of 100 MW and the contract includes the construction of a 120 MVA substation.

Tafilah is owned by Mass Jordan for Renewable Energy PSC and is slated to come on stream in October 2019. Elecnor will be responsible for the engineering, supply, construction and start-up of the facilities. The wind farm will have 28 GE 3.6-137m HH110M turbines and is the first developed by Elecnor in a consortium with GE.

Elecnor in Jordan

This wind farm will be the fourth started up by Elecnor in Jordan, where the company has been operating for 5 years and has built the 66-MW Maan wind farm, owned by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the 86-MW Al Rajef wind farm, owned by Alcazar Energy. It was also responsible for increasing the capacity of the Maan facility by 14 MW. This latest project further strengthens Elecnor's standing as a key player in the Jordanian renewables market.
